To love is to hate and to hate is to love…

So last night I decided to try an application called MyColors.  It’s a pretty cool application that is suppose to make Windows XP/Vista look way cool and all.  It was pretty cool how it looked, but I found out after I installed it you couldn’t really make custom skins and it screwed up my Internet and E-mail short cuts in the Windows start menu.  Being a very compulsive person on having everything be pro on my computer, I uninstalled the MyColors in hopes that it would fix the error with the start menu.  It didn’t x.x.  I then tried to see if you could fix it in the start menu properties.  Turns out you can’t…  This seemed to make windows seem dumb to me.  I mean I understand why it doesn’t let you like select the application through browsing and what not, but like it seemed dumb not to let you x.x.  So I then googled the issue and it turned out to be an issue with the registry missing keys and everything x.x.  So I decided to do a system restore (which was what it recommended doing on the site), but then my system restore failed x.x so it recommended to go back to the previous state before attempting to restore.  And when I went back it said it failed x.x, so I was pretty unhappy.  I then went through the registry to recreate the missing keys and values x.x, guesstimating from looking at my laptops registry.  It worked!  So I got the stuff fixed, told the programs that seemed to be missing stuff to do a repair just incase, and right now it seems to work, but appears to still be missing keys D=.  I’m hoping for the best because I don’t want to have to reinstall everything just from one program being faulty.  Looking at what happened, I’m kinda mad at the fact that they’d say the program was pro even though it wasn’t D=.  So this summer has seemed to be filled with problems popping up x.x (updating XP to service pack three and blue screening at start up, the MyColors, car mirror breaking off x.x, etc).  Luckily I have been able to survive them all and fix them…  for the most part =x lol.  I’m kinda excited school is starting next month, but also kinda nervous since it’s been getting harder each semester.  Well wish me luck =x.

So…  I got my new computer yesterday, and it’s really different than what I’m use to, first, being a desktop, second, not being a mac, and third, vista 64-bit.  I have to say it’s pretty pro though, it has the intel i7 processor which is a 4 core processor with hyper threading, so it can have 8 processes running at the same time o.o;; which is kinda cool cause windows thinks it has 8 cores which makes me feel like way powerful lol.  So, right now the computer seems to run at the same speed as me in some cases, in others it still seems vista-ie, but I mean, it all seems to go really quick, and like even if I have one core hit like 100% from some app crashing due to it’s own sad reasons, you hardly notice it from everything else still running fast and smooth.  I think to freeze it I’d need like 8 things to crash and burn and freeze up lol, “think” I’m not completely sure.  My brother says he wants to try running some games on the new computer x.x because he says it’s a “gaming” machine, when I was thinking about running some virtual machines on it for like development stuff cause you have to do that I think for some of the later com sci classes x.x.  And also cause it’s kinda cool to get use to setting up and playing with the different OSes, and also cause you can take snap shots and stuff and screw up a virtual machine a few times to get things right before actually screwing up your real computer OS stuff lol.  But, I’ve also noticed that vista is using about 1.9GB of RAM with only vista running.  I don’t know why this is x.x, but then again I still have over 4GB left to use x.x, which I still haven’t been able to freeze up lol.  I kinda got jealous seeing a computer with 8GB of ram, and I think having 24 would be really nice just to see how far you can push it lol.  Eh, I probably won’t be able to use this machine to the max yet since I still am setting stuff up, and I really don’t know what else to run and I kinda suck at multitasking.  Maybe when I get back to school with the dual display set up, I can like watch movies and virtualize stuff, and like eat bacon at the same time o.o;;?  I have to say, I kinda miss the leopard interface, but like I like the windows one too!  I just wish that windows was more self compatible with all the apps like Macs are x.x.  For example, on mac you can like drag and drop everything from everywhere, and like when you upload things, it identifies that you have photo albums and what not and like everything else, so it’s really nice that like everything you set up once, is acknowledged everywhere on it, while on windows you might have to set up 10 different things so it feels like it all gets along, but that’s just my opinion, maybe there is some cool way to be pro.
